TikTok Shop is introducing a new Promotion Performance Score that could affect the visibility, product access and promotional benefits available to affiliate creators. From August 27, 2026, PPS will replace Promotion Quality Points as the active score in six Southeast Asian markets.

The new score measures both the quality of the products a creator promotes and the quality and compliance of their shoppable videos and LIVE content. TikTok recommends maintaining a PPS of at least 4.5 and warns that visibility may be affected when a creator’s score falls below 3.0.

Key Takeaways: What TikTok Shop Affiliates Need to Know

  • PPS replaces Promotion Quality Points from August 27, 2026.
  • The change applies in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
  • Product selection and content quality each contribute 50% to the final score.
  • TikTok recommends that creators maintain a PPS of 4.5 or higher.
  • Content visibility may be affected if a score falls below 3.0.
  • Certain products, campaigns, vouchers and promotional tools may have minimum PPS requirements.

TikTok Shop Replaces Promotion Quality Points

TikTok Shop’s official PPS guidance confirms that the existing Promotion Quality Points system will remain active through August 26. PPS will replace it the following day.

The two systems both assess creator promotion activity, but PPS places greater emphasis on content quality and compliance. PQP primarily considered the shops and products selected by creators, positive product reviews and order volume. PPS combines product selection with a separate assessment of shoppable videos and LIVE content.

Affiliate creators can receive a PPS if they complete at least one qualifying activity during the previous 30 days. This includes generating at least five paid orders through recent content, posting at least 10 shoppable short videos or hosting at least three ecommerce LIVE sessions

The score is available through the Account Health section of TikTok Shop Creator Center and is refreshed daily for eligible creators.

How Promotion Performance Score Is Calculated

PPS ranges from 0 to 5 and contains two equally weighted components:

  • Product Selection Score: 50%
  • Content Score: 50%

The Product Selection Score measures the quality of the products promoted by a creator. TikTok calculates it as an order-weighted average, meaning products that generate more orders have a greater influence on the score.

Individual Product Scores are based on a product’s positive review rate compared with other products in the same category. The score used in the calculation is the one shown when the creator publishes the content and links the product. If the product’s score changes later, the score already attached to that content will not be revised.

Products without a Product Score are excluded from the calculation.

This makes product selection a larger commercial consideration for affiliates. As TikTok Shop expands into higher-ticket affiliate products, creators need to consider customer satisfaction and product quality alongside commission rates, sales potential and audience fit.

Content Compliance Becomes Part of Affiliate Performance

The Content Score assesses the quality and policy compliance of shoppable videos and LIVE streams.

Creators receive a base score influenced by qualifying LIVE activity. They can earn additional points for LIVE sessions assessed as good quality and for publishing shoppable videos without violations. Points may be deducted according to the number and proportion of videos or LIVE sessions that receive violations.

Deleting a piece of content does not remove the associated violation from the PPS calculation. Creators who believe a violation was issued incorrectly must use TikTok Shop’s appeal process.

That creates a direct connection between compliance and distribution. Concerns around misleading demonstrations, inaccurate claims and AI-generated TikTok Shop affiliate videos are no longer limited to consumer trust or account enforcement. Content quality may also influence the creator’s access to reach and promotional opportunities.

Low Scores May Affect Visibility and Product Access

TikTok advises creators to aim for a PPS of 4.5 or above. Higher scores can provide access to additional product-promotion tools and benefits, while content visibility may be affected if the score falls below 3.0.

PPS thresholdAdditional benefits unlocked
3.0 or aboveEnhanced content reach
3.5 or aboveAccess to the LIVE giveaway tool, creator campaigns and more product categories
4.0 or aboveAbility to promote discounted products
4.5 or above40% TikTok Shop Ads discount

These benefits are cumulative, meaning creators retain the benefits from lower thresholds as their PPS increases.

Some restricted product categories require creators to maintain a minimum PPS. Special vouchers may also require a score of at least 3.5, meaning a low score could prevent a creator from linking an otherwise available product.

TikTok does not state that every creator below 3.0 will experience the same reduction in visibility. The documentation says reach “may” be affected, so the score should not be treated as a published ranking formula or a guarantee of distribution.

What Affiliate Creators and Managers Should Review

Creators and affiliate teams operating in the affected markets should:

  1. Check Product Scores before linking products to videos or LIVE sessions.
  2. Review whether high-order products are helping or weakening the Product Selection Score.
  3. Use TikTok’s Video Pre-Check and LIVE Diagnosis tools before and during publication.
  4. Monitor PPS daily through Creator Center rather than waiting for visibility to decline.
  5. Review violations promptly and appeal any that appear incorrect.
  6. Confirm minimum PPS requirements before planning campaigns around restricted products, vouchers or platform benefits.

Affiliate managers should also avoid judging creators only by order volume. A creator can generate sales while promoting products that produce weak customer feedback or publishing content that creates compliance risk.

TikTok Shop Affiliate is one of several ways creators can generate income on the platform. Affiverse’s TikTok creator monetization guide explains how commissions from Shop orders differ from Creator Rewards and direct brand deals.

The PPS Rollout Is Regional, Not Global

The August 27 transition applies specifically to Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. TikTok Shop already operates a version of PPS in the United States, but eligibility requirements and implementation details differ between markets.

The wider direction is still clear: TikTok Shop is making product quality and compliant content part of affiliate distribution. For creators, choosing what to promote may now affect more than commission income. It can also shape which tools, products and audiences they can access next.
