League Two outfit Exeter City has thrown its backing behind the forthcoming Responsible Gambling Week (RGW), an industry-wide campaign to trigger a national conversation about what it means to gamble responsibly.
#RGWeek18 takes place from 1-7 November under the slogan ‘Let’s Talk about Responsible Gambling’, and this marks the first year that English Football League clubs are participating.
City’s support will encompass running RGW messages on the club website and sharing social media posts throughout the week detailing the five key responsible gambling behaviours:
- Only spend what you can afford,
- Set your limits for time and money,
- Gambling is not the answer to any problem,
- Gambling when angry or upset is not a good idea and
- Gambling shouldn’t interfere with your personal relationships.
John Hagan, Chairman of the Industry Group for Responsible Gambling, said: “We’re delighted that Exeter City will be supporting Responsible Gambling Week. As an industry we are dedicated, year-round to promoting responsible gambling, but what makes Responsible Gambling Week special is the opportunity for gambling operators from every sector to unite behind the same message and engage in a national conversation about what it means to gamble responsibly.
“The engagement and support of football clubs is enormously helpful in highlighting the week.”
