Amazon Ads is bringing regional targeting and location-based creative into its UK advertising offer, while preparing to add Prime Video to unified television campaign measurement in 2027.

The developments, outlined at Amazon’s 2026 UK Upfront, could help brands connect regional sales opportunities with advertising decisions. For affiliate teams, the question is how those reports will sit alongside partner tracking and commission rules.

Key Takeaways: Amazon Connects Retail Signals With Prime Video

  • Geographic Insights and Activation is available in the UK.
  • Location-based Interactive Video Ads are expected on Prime Video in the UK by the end of 2026.
  • Prime Video is expected to join Barb CFlight measurement in 2027, subject to integration.
  • Audience measurement and regional sales reporting do not determine affiliate commissions.

Geographic Insights Identifies Regional Sales Opportunities

Geographic Insights and Activation (GIA) compares regional brand performance with category benchmarks, using Amazon’s retail signals or an advertiser’s own geographic data.

Amazon’s product documentation places GIA within Amazon DSP and Amazon Marketing Cloud. Its maps help advertisers identify areas with low brand penetration, then activate location groups that automatically adjust bids. Amazon documented the tool in April; it is already available in the UK.

This gives teams a starting point for regional retail media tests. Low penetration could reflect limited distribution, weak awareness or local preferences, so advertisers should investigate the cause before increasing spend.

Amazon cited a German Kérastase campaign that achieved 38% lower cost per sale and 11% lower cost per sale among new-to-brand customers than its standard always-on display campaign. These are results from one campaign, rather than general benchmarks for UK advertisers.

Prime Video Ads Can Carry Local Offers

Location-based Interactive Video Ads will let brands vary offers, store information or promotions within one national Prime Video campaign. Amazon expects UK availability by the end of 2026.

The format supports geographic variations in messaging and pricing. A retailer could therefore promote an offer relevant to a viewer’s area, provided the stock, pricing and destination information are accurate.

Phil Christer, Managing Director of Amazon Ads UK:

Our ambition is simple—to make advertising simpler and more effective for brands, as well as more relevant for viewers.

Barb CFlight Brings Prime Video Into Unified TV Measurement

Barb confirmed on October 8 that Prime Video is expected to join post-campaign evaluation in Barb Ads Hub during 2027, subject to full integration. It has been included in Barb’s pre-campaign planner since June 2024.

CFlight measures deduplicated campaign reach and frequency across television services. Adding Prime Video should help buyers assess how many people their combined campaigns reached and how often, accounting for audiences that appear across services.

That can inform media allocation, but it does not show which affiliate influenced a purchase or calculate a partner’s commission.

Unified Measurement Does Not Settle Affiliate Credit

These developments follow a different route from Walmart’s expansion into Spotify, connected TV and live television. Walmart is extending shopper signals into external inventory; Amazon is combining regional campaign tools with local Prime Video creative and established UK television measurement.

Both raise questions about retail media’s relationship with affiliate marketing. A shopper might see a video ad, read a publisher’s comparison and follow an affiliate link before buying.

Regional sales reporting cannot establish that every attributed purchase was caused by the ad. CFlight cannot resolve competing conversion claims either. As Affiverse’s Google Meridian guide explains, channel-level contribution and transaction-level commission decisions require different measurement approaches.

The same issue appears in Affiverse’s coverage of Amazon Sponsored Products moving into creator content: overlapping activity makes a recorded sale harder to interpret.

What Performance Teams Should Test

Teams planning UK campaigns should agree the measurement approach before launch:

  • Regional opportunity: Check availability, pricing and distribution alongside brand penetration.
  • Local creative: Compare localized offers with national creative in otherwise similar regions.
  • Incremental sales: Use incrementality testing and suitable comparison groups to assess purchases beyond expected demand.
  • Partner credit: Document attribution windows, overlapping conversion claims and commission rules.

Where affiliate or creator activity runs alongside the ads, keep partner spending and promotions consistent during a regional comparison where possible. Otherwise, a sales change could reflect a new discount, publisher placement or product launch rather than the local creative.

Report audience reach, regional sales and affiliate performance separately before assessing their relationship. That will help teams judge whether local targeting adds sales and how partners contributed.
