Tweet Editing On the Way for Twitter Blue

Tweet editing, one of the most highly-requested features on Twitter looks like it might be about to become a reality. Twitter is about to release testing of an edit function – exclusively to subscribers of Twitter Blue.

Twitter has been working on this feature for months, and now the recent increase in the price of Twitter Blue is starting to make sense. The price recently rose from $2.99 to $4.99 per month with no apparent upgrades or additional features, however, with the new potential for Tweet editing this could prove to be a lucrative move for the social media platform.

There has been pressure for years on Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter, to include a Tweet editing feature, but in 2020 he made a statement which effectively crushed these hopes.

“A lot people want it because they want to fix a quick spelling error or a broken link or whatnot, and that’s great, we’ve considered a one-minute window or a 30-second window to correct something, but that also means that we have to delay sending that tweet out, because once it’s out, people see it. So, these are all the considerations, it’s just work. But we’ll probably never do it.”

However, recent moves suggest that its newest update is just that. This could be a great way for Twitter to increase its revenue, as Tweet editing is an extremely long-anticipated feature. Even if just 1% of Twitter users switch over to Blue for this feature, the platform would see an extra $11.9 million in revenue every month.
