Facebook to be given new feed format

If you opened your Facebook account over the past couple of days and saw that everything looked different, there is an explanation. Facebook has inflicted a new feed format that is more akin to TikTok rather than Facebook.

Looking more like a reshuffling of the news feed, the new Facebook feed format will be split into Home and Feeds, much like the Following and For You pages on TikTok. The Home feed will offer your recommendations in content from creators, whereas the Feeds will show you all the latest content from your friends and family. So basically, Facebook is splitting its purpose between communicating with people you know and gaining entertainment from people you don’t.

In a statement, Meta said: “One of the most requested features for Facebook is to make sure people don’t miss friends’ posts. So today we’re launching a Feeds tab where you can see posts from your friends, groups, Pages and more separately in chronological order. The app will still open to a personalized feed on the Home tab, where our discovery engine will recommend the content we think you’ll care most about. But the Feeds tab will give you a way to customize and control your experience further.”

There is a concern online if Facebook users really want the TikTok experience. The more Facebook aims to attract younger users, they might cause what little older demographics they have off of the site.
