We caught up with Sue Dawson from FTD Digital this week about why she’s speaking on our Casino Panel at this year’s AffiliateFEST and what delegates can hope to learn from this session. Having attended this event since it first started, Sue has a great insight on the value that affiliates get from attending these kinds of educational conferences.
Why are you participating at AffiliateFest 2018 – and what do you hope to get out of attending this exclusive affiliate event?
Like so many great things, it started with a conversation in a bar – in this case, about where the bingo industry is going. I hope to learn something new from listening to all the other speakers – and from conversations in the networking area afterwards!
Tell us a bit about your business experience and background so we can point out your key skills when featuring you in press releases and marketing communications
I’ve been working in bingo (and slots) affiliate marketing for more than 5 years and wrote all the content for an affiliate site that ranked without any incoming links. Before that, I was a stay at home parent, and before that (back in the 90s) I was in head office management for a chain of second hand music shops (which is where I got started with digital marketing).
Please share a brief synopsis of what affiliates can expect to learn from your workshop or panel session?
Where is the bingo and casino industry going? Who will be the players of the future and how will they differ from the players of the past? How can operators best use bingo as a player retention tool? This along with other hot topics will be the focus of our discussion and should provide invaluable insight from a variety of industry perspectives around how the industry will continue to adapt and change in future months.
What have you found are the biggest challenges that small entrepreneurs or solopreneurs like iGaming affiliates face in terms of understanding how to drive traffic in online channels and grow their business to keep up with future trends?
Compliance is a huge challenge, especially as different operators interpret the rules in different ways. I’m looking forward to hearing more about how we can collaborate together with operators to effect positive change and interpret the rulings in a practical sense for our business.
What do you think the future of Affiliate Marketing looks like and what can the delegates attending the event expect to find answers to – what trends are you currently seeing?
More M&A and operator need for control over what affiliates do will result in fewer affiliates. Industry wide self exclusion will reduce the pool of new players. Operators will start switching budget from acquisition to retention. Affiliates need to find a way to monetise this.
How is your business currently expanding and innovating to keep abreast of the latest digital and regulatory trends?
Custom wording for welcome offers and clickable custom T&Cs with tracking. Database to serve basic content across several websites. A big expansion into the PPC agency space as it’s an area of continued growth and development.
