Online sportsbook Betway has continued to build its sponsorship portfolio across Europe by signing a deal with German Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin.
The partnership, which will last for three years, will see the operator become the exclusive sports betting partner of the Berlin-based side.
In recent months, Betway has announced a flurry of sponsorship deals across Europe – especially in Spain.
According to Betway, the new partnership was brokered by the agency SPORTFIVE.
“This is a fantastic opportunity”
As part of its deal with Hertha Berlin, Betway will benefit from LED board branding in the Olympic Stadium on matchdays.
Betway CEO Anthony Werkman spoke about the new sponsorship and had the following to say.
“Our brand is well known among football fans in Germany, with our range of partnerships held in the top two divisions of the Bundesliga over the last few seasons.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our product to fans of one of the oldest and well-established clubs in the country.”
“A reliable partner”
Hertha Berlin finished 10th in the Bundesliga last season, ahead of rivals Union Berlin on goal difference. They will begin the 2020/2021 campaign on Saturday 19th September, away at Werder Bremen.
Along with the LED board branding, the club will feature the Betway logo within the Hertha BSC app – as well on the official website.
Hertha Berlin Managing Director Ingo Schiller said the following about the deal.
“Betway has been on the market for a long time and is a reliable partner of the sport, which we are pleased to have at our side. Especially in these challenging times, we appreciate such a commitment to Hertha Berlin.”
Meanwhile, Thorben Jeß – Vice President Team Hertha BSC from SPORTFIVE – also added his thoughts.
“Despite the current difficult situation caused by COVID-19, we are very happy to have found a new sports betting partner for Hertha Berlin in Betway.
“With this partnership, Betway not only secures another traditional club in the German football league, but also various exciting opportunities to make an appearance as a partner of Hertha Berlin. We are pleased about this new partnership and look forward to our common future.”
