Gary Emmerson hired as Catena Media's emerging markets lead

Catena Media has bolstered its leadership team after appointing Gary Emmerson as the new Head of Emerging Markets. After joining the company last year as head of Australian coverage, he is now also charged with developing other markets.
According to Emerson’s LinkedIn profile, the role involves being an editor of award-winning sports and racing websites in Australia and Sweden.
Emmerson will also be given responsibility for the content planning of sports and horse racing writing – whilst also managing an array of freelance writers across the world.
After previously being head of Australian content at Gaming Media, where he edited Bettingpro.com.au, he was acquired by Catena Media in 2017. Earlier in his career, he also worked for the the Collings Sport News Agency and Weatherbys.
While founded in 2012, Catena Media has around 400 employees in the US, Australia, Japan, Serbia, UK, Sweden, Italy and Matla (HQ). The Nasdaq Stockholm-listed company achieved total sales of €105m in 2018.
Catena Media promotes more than 1,200 brands via portals such as AskGamblers and RightCasino. It has around 1,000 online B2B customers, including Bet365, Ladbrokes and William Hill.
The affiliate giant has enjoyed a successful year so far, having released its results for Q1 of this year at the beginning of the month. The group reporting a dip in profits despite showing an increase in its revenues for the first quarter.
The affiliate detailed that its revenues had jumped nine per cent from the same period last year, reporting total revenues of €26.1m (£22.4m/$29.1m) up from €23.9m.
